A snapshot on reportage photography

What makes reportage style photography so good? Hopefully, you’ll hardly notice we’re there. We love to capture natural moments as they occur. A family walk in the forest, a frisbee match with friends in the park, a lazy Sunday morning at home with the kids.
Whenever I visit my grandma’s house, I’m greeted with numerous photos of my family on the walls and mantlepiece. We’re all grinning awkwardly at the lens, dressed in our Sunday best (90’s fringes, crimped hair, double denim and all), with stiff poses next to each other. While studio photography is great, we feel our relaxed photos give you more memorable moments to look back on – hopefully with fondness rather than embarrassment.
Our style suits those of you who consider yourselves camera shy. We often hear from parents during our new born shoots ‘I don’t want to be in the photos. I never look good on camera. I’ll stay in the background where you can’t see me.’ Don’t worry, we say. The focus will still be on your children but trust us, you’ll want to be in them too. Just relax and enjoy it.
More often than not, the images these parents feature in are the ones they like the most. Because they show how you really are as a family. Together. We capture those tender moments once you’ve forgotten we are there and just act normal.
Reportage style also suits those of you who are anything but camera shy. The big, the bold and the energetic among you. Want to throw leaves in the air and run among them? Go for it. Think jumping in that muddy puddle looks appealing? Be our guest. Want to start a flour fight at a baking session? Sounds exciting. Enjoy dangling your kids upside down or dressing up as superman to run around the garden. We say why not!
Whatever your style, you do you and we’ll show you what that looks like to the outside world.
